Members of the NFF executive committee headed by Ibrahim Gusau have been handed a 24-hour ultimatum to resign.
The order was given by the National Sports Commission (NSC) and it followed serious concerns over the administration of football in the country.
KTH Daily gathered that the resignation was to be officially handed down to the football administration egg heads during their meeting with Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
It followed the dismal showing of the country’s national soccer teams, including the Super Eagles, Super Falcons and the U-20 male team, the Flying Eagles.
The Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, while their female counterparts, the Super Falcons, followed suit by not qualifying for the 2027 Women’s World Cup for the first time in history.
The Flying Eagles, on their part failed to pick qualification to the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The NFF leadership has been accused of maladministration, misappropriation and misjudgment,
Top officials the football ruling body and the nation’s sports governing body (NSC) were at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa Wednesday night after earlier meeting with the Senste sports committee on the crisis that has engulfed Nigerian football.
It has also been reported that a section of the NFF board will support the call to resign and a meeting with the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu was scheduled for yesterday.
The NFF have fixed September 27 for elections into the executive committee with Gusau seeking a second four-year term.
