Former Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Osita Chidoka has explained how ex-President Goodluck Jonathan acknowledged his 2015 election loss.
Chidoka spoke to Channels Television on the sideline of the signing of the National Peace Accord in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to an account shared by Chidoka, Jonathan informed him privately that the election was lost even before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the final results for the remaining states.
When Chidoka asked about the next steps, he said Jonathan stated that he would accept the outcome and instructed him to draft a concession speech.
Before the final official tally was fully completed, Jonathan called Muhammadu Buhari to concede defeat in the 2015 general elections.
Jonathan, who was under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lost the 2015 presidential election to Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC), becoming the first sitting Nigerian president to lose a democratic election.
