Invincible Angels’ TM Defends Ordega’s Invitation to Falcons Camp

The Team Manager of Invincible Angels Football Club of Gboko, Engr. George Igbana, has defender the invitation of Francisca Ordega to the Super Falcons camp by Coach Justin Madugu, which has received criticisms from some football stakeholders.
Reacting to the criticisms, Igbana, whose club has produced no fewer than 17 players for the national teams, said the opposition was in bad blood, as the player still has enough in her tank to offer the national team.
Besides still playing top flight football, the experienced football administrator argued that Ordega’s experience in the national team will be of huge benefit to the Super Falcons in their pursuit of more silverwares for the country.
“Today Nigeria seems to be a country full of football critics who have no solutions to the problems but just out to run the system down. If we are serious minded people, we should be constructive in our views, we should be critical in analysing, writing and pointing out where our system needs development and proffer solutions.
“I have read very
constructive write-ups from very good journalists, but I saw a photo of both the coach Madugu and Ordega where the writer tried to ridicule the duo.
“I can beat my chest that under my efforts, Invincible Angels FC Gboko has achieved some level of success as the only privately owned club that has single handedly produced the most renowned women footballers who have adorned national colours or are playing outside the shores of Nigeria today.
“Some of the players are Soo Adekwagh, Loveth Ayila, Francisca Ordega, Sandra Chiichii, Lilian Tule, Anam Imo, Alice Ogebe and Adoo Yina.
Others are Paulina Ali, Patience Kalu, Mabel Effiom, Blessing Nkor, Linda Kpamber, Sandra Aernyi, Hembafan Ayatsea, Francisca Aju who later nationalized for Equatorial Guinea and Judith Benson who is now a certified coach with Abia Angels FC.
The versatile football administrator said he was surprised because at 33 years Ordega is not too old to play for Nigeria, compare to some of the players that played for the national team when they were in their late 30’s.
Besides, Igbana said Ordega was still playing top flight club football, Ordega has what is required to assist the Super Falcons excell at the coming WAFCON and FIFA Women World Cup.
“I know where Francisca Ordega started and the efforts the parents and some of us have contributed to see her go this far, nobody can cow me or tell me that she is too old to play for the national team. How old was Onome Ebi when she last played for Nigeria and how many World Cups did she played in, How old was Roger Milla of Cameron when he was called out of retirement to join the Indomitable Lions for FIFA World cup in 1990, How old is Josimar José Évora Dias, (Vozinha) the Cape Verde goalkeeper who made headlines with spectacular performance in recent FIFA World Cup, how old Lionel Messi and how many world cups has he played both youth and Senior, how old is Cristiano Ronaldo and how old was Marta Vieira Silva?” he queried.
