70-year-old Woman Docked For Allegedly Receiving Stolen Bag of Rice, Keg of Palm Oil

A 70-year-old woman, Muiba Ejalonibu, on Tuesday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan over alleged receipt of stolen items.
Ejalonibu, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on a one-count charge of receiving stolen property to which she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp Elisha Tellang, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence in June at Ajoda area, Ibadan.
Tellang alleged that Ejalonibu received a bag of rice and a keg of palm oil from one Niyi Adeyemo, knowing that the items were stolen.
He said the value of the items was yet to be determined.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 427 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwaferanmi Raji, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Raji ordered that one of the sureties must be a reputable business owner, while the other must be a blood relation of the defendant bearing the same surname.
She adjourned the case until July 28 for hearing.
