Delta Govt, Dexteron Seal Power Transmission Deal

The Delta Government has entered a strategic partnership with Dexteron Engineering Limited to accelerate the development of a 330kV transmission line to strengthen electricity infrastructure and improve power distribution statewide.
The State Commissioner for Energy, Mr Michael Anoka, disclosed the development during a high-level meeting with the management of Dexteron Engineering Limited on Thursday in Asaba.
The commissioner described the collaboration as a major milestone for the state.
He said that the initiative supported Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori’s ‘MORE Agenda’, which prioritised reliable electricity infrastructure as a catalyst for industrial growth, economic development, business expansion, and improved living standards across Delta.
He noted that the discussions centred on practical measures to fast-track power evacuation, increase transmission capacity, and ensure more stable electricity supply for communities and businesses throughout the state.
Anoka also reviewed progress on the ongoing transmission project at Kwale, expressing confidence that the initiative would significantly improve electricity supply despite earlier regulatory and procurement obstacles encountered during implementation.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, he stressed that partnership with experienced and technically competent firms remained essential for delivering modern electricity infrastructure capable of meeting the state’s growing energy demands.
The commissioner maintained that expanding the transmission network would attract fresh investments, stimulate industrial activities, create employment opportunities, and enhance electricity access for residents in both urban and rural communities across Delta.
To facilitate the project’s next phase, Anoka requested Dexteron Engineering Limited to submit a detailed proposal covering estimated project costs, implementation schedule, engineering specifications, and other critical technical requirements.
Speaking, Dexteron Engineering Limited Head of Operations, Mr Agbanuji David, highlighted the company’s extensive experience.
He noted its successful delivery of more than 2,500 kilometres of transmission line projects nationwide.
David added that the company’s transmission towers have undergone rigorous international testing and complied with global standards, ensuring durability, operational efficiency, and long-term reliability for critical electricity infrastructure projects.
The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Byron Unini, and the Director of Electricity Power Supply, Mr Stanley Efenudu, among others.
