The police in Lagos have dragged two sales representatives, Esther Hassan and Taibat Yahaya, before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing from their employer.
Hassan, 26; and Yahaya, 45, are standing trial before Magistrate Olufunke Ogun, on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
They each, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Esther Adesulu told the court that the defendants committed the offences on May 16 at Jennifer Restaurant in Ojo.
She alleged that the defendants conspired to steal a total sum of N3.8 million from the complainant, Mrs Jennifer Okoro, Director of the restaurant.
The prosecutor said that the defendants were arrested after conclusion of police investigations.
The offences, the prosecutor said, contravened the provisions of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The court granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.
She adjourned the case until July 17, for mention.
