Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Barau Football Club has confirmed the retain of players for the 2026/27 Nigerian top flight league.
The club’s General Manager, Dominic Iorfa, in a statement on Thursday, said after consultations with the club’s technical crew, 21 players will remain with the squad as the club looks to consolidate on its progress from the previous season.
“Barau FC retaining the large chunk of its squad is a strong statement of maintaining continuity within the squad while strengthening the other departmrnts areas of the team ahead of the 2026/27 campaign will be given priority as the team aims to better their 2025/2026 debut season performance,” the statement read in parts.
The retained players, Iorfa said are: Emeka Nwabulu, Chisom Chiaha, Oscar Destiny, Sugau Aliyu, Bismark Duah, Usman Maidubuji, Henry Ezeonye, Chisom Nkwocha, and Orji Kalu.
Others are Jimmy Ambrose, Nura Muhammad, Moses Tsehuan, Sa’ad Tijjani, Ebuka Nwokorie, Sunday Anthony, Hillary Ekawu, Joseph Atule, Adamu Hussaini, Ibrahim Yunusa, Uche Moses, and Stanley Oganbor.
He appreciated the players who will not be part of the squad next season, commending them for their dedication and contributions during their time with the Kano based soccer outfit.
“Barau FC would like to thank all departing players for their service and commitment to the club and wishes them every success in the future,” the former Nigeria international said.
The Maliya Boys, who struggled at the beginning of the season, finished the 2025/2026 season in a respectable 8th position after a turnaround under new General Manager, Dominic Iorfa.
