Nigerian rapper Ycee has doubled down on his controversial comments about the growing popularity of content creators, insisting he has no regrets over the remarks that sparked the ongoing “Olodo uprising” debate.

Speaking during a recent radio interview, the rapper maintained that he stands by his opinion despite the widespread backlash that followed his comments, which referenced content creator Peller.

“I said what I said. I don’t care about any of these things. I said what I said, and anybody that feels offended by it, I said what I said,” Ycee declared.

The rapper argued that his comments had been taken out of context, noting that the conversation has grown far beyond what he originally intended, with many public figures and social media users either defending or criticizing his position.

“Everybody just took it out of context. It’s even worse than I thought because there are so many people that are coming out to either defend or try to take jabs at what it is that I was saying,” he said.

Ycee also challenged those unhappy with the type of content dominating social media to become creators themselves rather than simply criticizing others from the sidelines.

“If you’re tired of the brain rot content that you’ve been consuming, then by all means, throw your hat into the ring. Get in the game,” he said.

According to the rapper, he has consistently encouraged more people to explore content creation and streaming, stressing that there is room for different voices and ideas online.

Despite the criticism, Ycee said the controversy has not distracted him, making it clear that he has no intention of retracting his remarks.
