Frontline aspirant for the House of Representatives seat in Oshodi-Isolo II, Lagos State, Kehinde Bamigbetan, has declared himself fully prepared for the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, insisting that years of political sacrifice and grassroots mobilisation have positioned him strongly for victory.
Bamigbetan made the declaration shortly after receiving the Special Recognition in Politics Award from popular society magazine, City People, at the organisation’s boardroom on Monday.
The former Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy said he remained confident of clinching the party’s ticket for the May 18, 2026 primaries, noting that he had previously stepped down in 2015 and 2023 to allow incumbent lawmakers to seek second-term tickets on the APC platform.
“I am ready for the party primaries. I was ready to win in 2015 and 2023 before I was persuaded to step down so the incumbents could run for a second term. I have recharged and retrofitted my political machinery and I am more formidable than ever,” he said.
Speaking during the award presentation, City People publisher, Seye Kehinde, said Bamigbetan was selected for the honour after a review of his political engagements spanning student unionism, labour activism, local government administration and state governance.
Kehinde described Bamigbetan’s style of politics as one driven by intellectual depth, mass engagement, and strategic communication.
The award presentation was followed by an interview session during which Bamigbetan spoke on his House of Representatives ambition, his chances at the APC primaries, and the performance of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The APC chieftain commended Tinubu’s government for pursuing difficult but necessary reforms, saying the administration had remained committed to fulfilling its electoral promises to Nigerians despite the challenges associated with tough economic decisions.
Bamigbetan, a former Chief Press Secretary to President Tinubu during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State, was until recently Special Adviser to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development.
He also previously served as chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area and as Public Relations Officer of the then University of Ife Students’ Union, now Obafemi Awolowo University Students’ Union.
