Nigerian singer, actor and pastor Banky W has opened up about his love story with wife Adesua Etomi-Wellington, revealing that their now-admired union began with rejection, patience and faith.
Speaking on The Teju Babyface Show, Banky W shared that there was a time he was certain Adesua was “the one,” even when she did not feel the same.
After several failed attempts to win her over, he admitted to stepping back emotionally, choosing distance over disappointment.
For him, it was a moment of reflection. A quiet thought that perhaps life was simply returning the heartbreak he had once given to others.
Yet, instead of walking away completely, he chose to hold on to what they already had. A friendship he described as one of the best in his life., and that decision changed everything.
Rather than force the outcome, Banky said he turned to faith, praying for clarity and leaving the final decision in God’s hands.
He made a silent vow to himself. If she did not come to that realization on her own, he would never bring it up again.
According to him, after what he described as personal confirmations on her end, Adesua called him and said the words that shifted everything.
“You know you’re my husband, right?” His response was calm. “I’ve known for a year and a half. I’ve just been waiting for you to catch up.”
