Long Weekend: FG Declares Friday as Holiday for Workers’ Day

The Federal Government has declared Friday a public holiday to enable workers to celebrate International Workers’ Day.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the government.

This was contained in a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, on Wednesday in Abuja.

Tunji-Ojo commended Nigerian workers for their hard work and dedication to national development, noting that their contributions remain vital to the country’s growth and prosperity.

He urged workers to embrace patriotism, productivity, and commitment to duty, describing these values as essential for sustainable development.

According to the minister, the Federal Government remains committed to promoting the welfare and security of workers while creating an enabling environment for economic growth.

He also encouraged workers to use the occasion to reflect on the importance of unity and diligence in nation-building.

Tunji-Ojo congratulated workers across the country and wished them a peaceful Workers’ Day celebration.
