…Doctor: Scan Was Wrong, There Was No Twin
…Police Vows to Investigate Allegations of Child Trafficking

A Lagos-based hospital has been thrown into confusion following a dispute between a woman and medical personnel over the alleged disappearance of one of her newborn twins.
The incident, which has since gone viral, unfolded at a private facility in the Ikotun area of Lagos State, where the woman accused hospital staff of withholding one of her babies after delivery, triggering a chaotic and emotional scene.
In a video circulating widely on social media, the woman, seen clutching a newborn, was captured confronting a doctor at Tip-Top Solution Hospital, demanding the immediate production of her second child.
“Produce my second baby. This is not good enough. I did not come to this hospital to be robbed of my baby,” she shouted repeatedly, as those accompanying her echoed calls for the arrest of hospital staff over suspected baby trafficking.
The video also featured what appeared to be an obstetric scan report belonging to the patient, identified as Blessing Isioma David, 28. The document, dated March 2026, indicated a twin pregnancy, noting the presence of two foetuses.
According to the report, “Twin visible. Twin 1 is an oblique cephalic while Twin 2 is a transverse presentation. Normal cardiac pulsations noted,” adding that “Gender for Twin 1 is XY, while Gender for Twin 2 is XX.”
However, the hospital has strongly denied any wrongdoing. The medical director, Sunday Babajide, insisted that only one baby was delivered, attributing the confusion to an inaccurate scan result.
“The scan was wrong, and she did not do another scan in another centre. It was an error; the scan said two instead of one,” Babajide said, explaining that the patient’s husband was present in the theatre during delivery and witnessed the birth.
“We invited the husband to the theatre… the husband confirmed it was one. The woman herself was not asleep; she was awake,” he added.
Babajide further stated that the family was duly informed immediately after delivery that only one child had been born, maintaining that the scan, conducted at about 20 weeks, could have been prone to error.
“If the scan was done at the early stage, it would clearly show it. But if done at a later period, an error can occur,” he said, while acknowledging that the hospital should have insisted on a follow-up scan at another facility for confirmation.
Amid the conflicting claims, the Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the matter.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that authorities are aware of the incident and are working with relevant professional bodies to establish the facts.
“The Command is aware of the trending video and wishes to inform the public that the matter is currently under investigation. Relevant professional bodies and associations have been contacted and are working in synergy with the Police to get to the root of the situation,” she said.
She added that the Area Commander in charge of Area M is personally overseeing the case, assuring that the findings will be made public upon conclusion of the investigation.
“The outcome of the investigation will be made public in due course,” the statement added.
The police also urged residents to remain calm, noting that the situation is under control as efforts continue to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
