President Bola Tinubu has postponed his planned trip to Iperu in Ogun State and will instead travel to Jos, the capital of Plateau State, to commiserate with victims of recent gun attacks that left several citizens dead.

The change in schedule was announced in a statement issued by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga on Wednesday, signalling a shift in priority as the President responds to the security situation in Plateau.

According to the statement, Tinubu will depart for Jos to express solidarity with the state government and people following the deadly attacks, which have heightened concerns over insecurity in parts of the country.

After the visit to Plateau, the President will proceed to Lagos State, where he is expected to observe the Good Friday holiday.

He will, however, resume official engagements on Saturday, April 4, with a trip to Ogun State for the commissioning of the Gateway International Cargo Airport in Iperu, an infrastructure project expected to enhance trade and logistics within the state.

During the visit, Tinubu is also scheduled to inaugurate two commercial aircraft designated for cargo operations, a move aimed at boosting import and export activities and stimulating economic growth in Ogun State.

In addition, the President will commission a new facility belonging to the Nigerian Customs Service’s Federal Operations Unit, along with operational vehicles to support its activities.

Following the Ogun engagements, Tinubu will return to Lagos, where he is expected to continue the Easter break while carrying out further official duties.

Among the projects lined up for commissioning in Lagos are the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information System Building, a multi-agency complex named after the President, and a new school complex—all executed under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The President’s itinerary will culminate in a visit to Bayelsa State on April 10, where he is scheduled to inaugurate projects completed by Governor Duoye Diri before returning to Abuja.
