Beauty entrepreneur and reality television star Dabota Lawson recently opened a window into a chapter of her life many people have only heard about in whispers.
During a conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the former beauty queen spoke candidly about her short lived marriage and the lessons that came with it.
When asked whether marriage had been good to her, Dabota responded with careful honesty. She explained that it was not exactly bad. The real issue, she admitted, was that she simply was not ready for such a commitment at the time.
The follow up question came quickly. Why go ahead with it then? Dabota revealed that her former husband, Prince Sunny Aku, had appeared in her life like a knight in shining armour. The romance moved at a pace that, in hindsight, left little room for truly knowing each other. Marriage plans began barely three months after they met.
What followed, as many now know, was a union that struggled to survive the realities of everyday life.
The beauty queen explained that generational differences eventually played a role in their separation. Reports at the time had already pointed to a noticeable age gap between the founder of Novena Majesty and the beauty queen.
Their wedding in 2014 had attracted attention and admiration in equal measure. The marriage itself, however, lasted less than a year.
