The rising cost of diesel in Nigeria is beginning to bite harder, and even celebrities are now feeling the heat.

Popular Nollywood producer and actor Kunle Afolayan recently opened up about the growing struggle to keep his creative empire running. The filmmaker revealed that powering the Kunle Afolayan Productions Film Village and Resort has become increasingly difficult due to the constant rise in diesel prices and the familiar story of unreliable electricity supply.

According to him, the production village had previously managed to survive by purchasing diesel on credit. That arrangement, however, has now reached its limit as the price of fuel continues to climb higher.

Faced with the mounting pressure, Afolayan has called on institutions that can provide financial support through loans to help sustain the business. The filmmaker admitted that the situation has become overwhelming and that the enterprise urgently needs assistance.

Running a film village may look glamorous from the outside. The reality, it seems, is that creativity still runs on power generation in Nigeria.
