The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has approved and ratified the appointment of Dr Sadiq Abubakar Gombe as the National Chairman of the party.
The NEC also approved the appointment of Senator Ugochukwu Uba as National Deputy Chairman (South), and Mrs. Rosemary Effiong as National Labour and Civil Society Secretary.
The party’s NEC further took disciplinary action against former chairman, Shehu Gabam, and others, suspending them over alleged financial misconduct, embezzlement, and diversion of party funds exceeding N1 billion.
The move follows the earlier suspension of Gabam in June last year over similar allegations, as well as a Supreme Court ruling recognising Gombe’s leadership.
