The Super Falcons will return to Nigeria today from Cameroon and then break camp the following day.
The development has further strengthened uncertainties over this year’s WAFCON kicking off in Morocco later this month.
A top official said if the tournament was to begin on March 17 as scheduled, that will not be the case.
The Super Falcons will play a second warm-up game against hosts Cameroon tomorrow after they lost 1-0 to the same team at the weekend.
However, instead of them to stay back in training camp and continue preparations for the WAFCON, they are now expected to be decamped on Thursday to return to their various clubs.
This year’s WAFCON, which will also serve as a qualifying tournament for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil, has been fixed to be played from March 17 to April 3 in Morocco.
Last month, a junior minister in South Africa caused a big stir when she claimed that her country can stage the competition at very short notice.
There will then be some damage control by the country’s senior minister in this regard.
