Tonto Dikeh wore a big smile as she shared news that left many Nigerians both surprised and pleased. On Monday, 2 March 2026, the Nollywood actress and politician announced that she would no longer be called “King Tonto Dikeh”. The title, which she adopted after her difficult divorce, had symbolised a period when she said she had to play both father and mother to her son.
At the time, the name reflected strength, survival, and a woman determined to protect her own. It became more than a title. It became her shield.
Today, that season appears to be over, as Tonto explained that her decision came from spiritual guidance and her commitment to her ministry. She encouraged people to now call her Evangelist Tonto, Big T, or simply Aunty Tonto.
