Known for his unapologetically blunt takes on love and relationships, Nigerian TikTok influencer Emmanuel Obruste, popularly known as Gheghe has now turned his attention from matters of the heart to matters of power, and this time, his words are aimed squarely at Nigeria’s political future.

In a recent commentary, Gheghe declared that Peter Obi stands little chance of defeating Bola Tinubu, even in what many would consider a free and fair election. According to him, politics, much like relationships, is not sustained by vibes alone but by structure, presence, and strategy, areas where he believes Tinubu holds a clear advantage.

He argued that Tinubu already possesses what every serious contender needs: a firm structure on the ground, a clear campaign message, and the machinery of incumbency already in motion. In contrast, he suggested that Obi’s political footing appears less certain, claiming that some Nigerians remain unsure of his current political platform.

Gheghe also pointed to what he described as a shift in momentum. Unlike the fervour of 2023, he believes Obi’s popularity and confidence have cooled. Referencing Obi’s own words, “Even if they organise the election in their bedroom, I will still contest.” Gheghe questioned whether determination alone guarantees victory. After all, contesting, he implied, is one thing; winning is another entirely.

He concluded by invoking Nigeria’s long standing political reality, that sitting presidents rarely lose their grip on power. With Tinubu occupying both the office and its influence, Gheghe suggested the odds remain firmly in his favour, while many of Obi’s loudest supporters, he argued, exist more online than on the ballot.
