Dr Bulus Maiyaki, former Commissioner for Works and Finance in Taraba has condemned the recent attacks and burning of churches in communities of Donga and Takum Local Government Areas of Taraba.
Maiyaki who spoke to newsmen yesterday in Jalingo insisted that the killings must stop.
He expressed concern over the incessant attacks on communities in the two local government areas in recent time, calling on all stakeholders to come together an end the menace.
Maiyaki appealed to Gov. Agbu Kefas of Taraba, the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and that of the Moslim Council in the state to wade into the crisis with the view to finding lasting solution.
He also stressed the need to include the traditional rulers and other critical stakeholders together for the purpose of peace building with the aim to prevent reoccurances of such acts in the area.
Maiyaki, who served during the former Gov. Jolly Nyame administration, advised the attackers to stop the killings and present their grievances to the appropriate authorities for redress.
“I am worried over the continuous attacks, maiming, killings and destruction of property by a group of people, who have not come out to tell the public what has been their grouse against the Tiv communities in Donga and Takum.
“This killings must stop and I am advising the perpetrators to sheath their swords and present their grievances to the authorities for redress.
“I am calling on Gov. Kefas, our Traditional rulers as well as CAN and Muslim Council in the state to intervene in this matter with the view to finding lasting solution,” Maiyaki pleaded.
It would be recalled that Suspected herdsmen killed people, displaced others and destroyed churches on Sunday in Donga and Takum Local Government Areas of Taraba.
