Akinwale Matthew Feyiyemi Abidakun, founder and President of Bluemart Realty Group, has been inaugurated into the Forbes Africa Business Council, in recognition of his contributions to Nigeria’s real estate and investment landscape.
Abidakun, widely known as Wale Tomtom, leads Bluemart Realty Group, a Lagos-based property brokerage and investment firm that has built a strong reputation in distressed asset sales and non-performing property management. The firm operates in a highly competitive market and is noted for its structured approach to asset recovery, value restoration, and advisory services for financial institutions.
With over a decade of industry experience, Abidakun has developed expertise in managing distressed and remedial assets, particularly properties classified as non-performing by banks and other lenders. His work focuses on strategic intervention, repositioning, and value optimization, a niche that has gained relevance amid tightening credit conditions and rising asset reclassifications in Nigeria’s financial system.
Abidakun’s professional career began at Resort International and Bi-Courtney Group, where he served as Executive Personal Assistant to the Group Chairman, Dr. Wale Babalakin. The role exposed him to corporate governance, large-scale project management, and executive decision-making across multiple subsidiaries. He credits this period as formative in shaping his entrepreneurial discipline and business outlook.
He holds a degree in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Ilorin, obtained in 2003, and a Master’s degree from the University of Leeds, completed in 2009. After completing the National Youth Service Corps programme, he was retained at Bi-Courtney Group, a move that further strengthened his resolve to build an independent enterprise.
In 2014, Abidakun founded Bluemart Realty Group with the objective of transforming a previously underperforming property outfit into a scalable and professionally run real estate platform. Within five years, the firm was repositioned as a credible brand in distressed property management and brokerage services.
Abidakun is also an alumnus of Lagos Business School and Strathmore Business School, Kenya, where he participated in executive education programmes, including the Owner Managers Programme. These experiences have reinforced his leadership capacity and strategic planning skills.
Beyond commercial interests, Abidakun is actively involved in youth development initiatives. He is a member of the Rotary Club and works with the Southwest Youth Advancement Group, supporting programmes aimed at capacity building and economic empowerment for young Nigerians.
His induction into the Forbes Africa Business Council places him among a network of business leaders across the continent. According to Forbes, the selection was based on his track record, sectoral impact, and influence within Africa’s evolving business environment.
The recognition further consolidates Abidakun’s standing as a key player in Nigeria’s real estate sector, particularly in the growing segment of distressed asset management.
