Equere Appointed Executive Director at Petralon Energy

Petralon Energy has appointed Uduak Equere as Executive Director, effective January 5, 2026, in a move that underscores the company’s focus on strengthening leadership as it enters its next phase of growth.
Equere, who currently serves as Chief Commercial Officer, will retain that role while assuming expanded responsibilities at the group level. He will also continue as an Executive Director of Petralon 54, a subsidiary of Petralon Energy. His appointment follows a period of notable operational and commercial progress for the indigenous oil exploration and production company.
The company said the decision reflects Equere’s track record in delivering value across commercial development, corporate finance and operational execution. Over the past year, Petralon has recorded key milestones across its asset portfolio, reinforcing its operational capabilities, financial position and institutional foundations within Nigeria’s independent oil and gas sector.
Before joining Petralon Energy, Equere built extensive experience across energy and investment institutions. He began his career at Vetiva Capital Management as an Investment Analyst, covering energy sector equities and contributing to market perspectives on Nigeria’s oil, gas and power industries. During this period, he was also a regular commentator on CNBC Africa.
He later joined Afren Plc, where he was part of teams that expanded the company’s asset base through large-scale acquisitions, managed contingent liabilities and optimised fiscal outcomes across joint venture assets. Earlier in his career, Equere worked at Xodus Group Africa, providing petroleum economic assessments for upstream developments and advising on Africa Finance Corporation–backed acquisitions and debt-funded transactions across the continent.
Equere is a member of the International Association for Energy Economics and has completed executive programmes at Stanford University’s Centre for Professional Development and London Business School. He holds an MBA in Finance from Imperial College Business School and a BSc in Economics from the University of Uyo.
In addition to his corporate roles, Equere has contributed to industry discussions on energy finance and investment across Africa, speaking at forums such as African Energy Week 2024 in Cape Town.
