Edgebase Technologies has marked its 20th anniversary, celebrating two decades of work in building technology infrastructure and developing local technical capacity that supports Nigeria’s and West Africa’s digital growth.
Founded in 2005 as a small startup focused on hardware supply, the company has evolved into a regional provider of enterprise IT infrastructure, engineering services, cybersecurity and emerging technology solutions. Over the years, Edgebase has positioned itself as a trusted partner to organisations operating across critical sectors of the economy.
The company’s leadership attributes this growth to a series of deliberate strategic shifts, including its expansion from basic infrastructure provisioning into full-stack enterprise solutions, as well as long-term partnerships with leading global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Speaking on the milestone, Chief Executive Officer of Edgebase Technologies, Joel Egbai, said the company’s journey was built on a core belief that world-class technology infrastructure could be designed, deployed and maintained locally.
“Our journey started with a simple belief that Nigeria could build and maintain technology infrastructure at the same quality found anywhere in the world,” Egbai said. “Twenty years later, that belief has shaped everything we have become. We have grown talents, invested in people, strengthened our clients’ businesses and built leaders who are now driving impact within and beyond the ICT industry.”
He added that Edgebase’s partnerships with global OEMs have enabled it to deliver reliable solutions while remaining focused on building local capacity and helping organisations stay resilient through economic cycles.
From its early years as a small supplier to its current role as a technology partner to organisations across Nigeria and West Africa, the company has maintained a focus on value delivery to clients, partners, employees and host communities. As it enters its next phase, Edgebase says it is prioritising deeper innovation, stronger partnerships and sustained investment in the organisations that depend on its services.
The company’s guiding principles include timely delivery, technical accuracy and completeness, as well as building long-term trust with clients. Over the past two decades, it has delivered solutions to organisations in the Financial Services Industry, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing, Telecommunications and other key sectors.
Beyond infrastructure delivery, Edgebase has placed significant emphasis on human capital development. The company has established structured internship pipelines, OEM-certified training programmes and mentorship initiatives aimed at helping young Nigerians build careers in IT infrastructure, cybersecurity and enterprise support. Many of these professionals now occupy senior engineering and leadership roles across Nigeria and West Africa.
Reflecting on this aspect of the company’s work, Lukman Kola Afolabi, Head of Human Capital Management and Executive Director, said people development has always been central to Edgebase’s strategy.
“People see the projects and the systems, but the real story of Edgebase Technologies has always been the people behind them,” Afolabi said. “From day one, we made it a priority to train young talents, give them real technical experience and create an environment where they can build long-term careers.”
According to him, success at Edgebase is measured not only by revenue or delivery timelines, but also by the number of young professionals whose careers have been shaped through access to training, mentorship and real-world experience.
A key factor in Edgebase’s longevity has been its ability to make timely strategic pivots. The company has repeatedly adapted its business model by expanding engineering capabilities, embracing new OEM relationships and transitioning into more advanced enterprise solutions in response to client needs and market realities.
Despite operating in a challenging environment marked by power instability, foreign exchange volatility and global supply chain disruptions, Edgebase has continued to meet client expectations. The company says this has been achieved through flexible delivery models, strong OEM partnerships and a focus on operational reliability.
These capabilities have enabled banks, telecoms firms, public institutions and small and medium-sized enterprises to maintain critical operations with dependable technical support.
Looking ahead, Edgebase says it is increasing investment in emerging technologies, including AI-driven infrastructure and advanced cybersecurity solutions. These investments are aimed at helping clients anticipate risks earlier and build more resilient systems.
General Manager, Sales, Modupe Adesiyun, noted that sustaining this next phase of growth would require continuous talent development to ensure the company’s workforce remains equipped to address future technology challenges.
On the operational side, Head of Operations and Supply Chain Management, Adeyinka Alade, said the ICT industry now demands a proactive approach. According to him, technology providers must anticipate client needs rather than wait for formal requests.
He added that Edgebase’s strength lies in its alignment with its long-term vision and its OEM partners, whose collaboration allows the company to tailor solutions to each client’s specific requirements.
In addition to its commercial operations, Edgebase has made broader socio-economic contributions through job creation, SME empowerment, digital access initiatives and community-focused programmes. The company notes that a significant portion of its 20-year journey has been devoted to building people and capacity as a foundation for sustainable growth.
To commemorate its anniversary, Edgebase has planned a series of activities over the next six months to celebrate its achievements and recognise individuals who have contributed to its growth. As part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives running through April 2026, the company plans to support communities, schools and children through programmes that include competitions, awards, scholarships and other outreach efforts.
“Twenty years is a major milestone, but it also marks a new beginning,” Egbai said. “We will continue to innovate, continue to build capacity and continue to play our part in shaping a stronger and more resilient digital economy for Africa.”
