Head Coach of Barau FC, Ladan Bosso, has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance following theirvictory over Enugu Rangers in in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League match.
Barau defeated 2–0 Rangers in the game played on Sunday at Sani Abacha Stadium.
Bosso told NAN after the clash that the win marked the beginning of better things for the club which struggling in the relegation zone.
He said the team had set a target of being unbeaten their next three consecutive matches, adding that the victory against Rangers fulfilled that objective.
“Before we travelled to Katsina, the players said they wanted to remain unbeaten in three matches.
“We drew away, and now we have won at home. This shows improvement and gives us confidence,” he said.
Bosso said the team had struggled earlier in the season, but the latest results proved they were gradually stabilising.
“With this win, we now have 13 points and have improved our goal difference. It helps us move out of the danger zone. Our plan is to build consistency and keep progressing,” he said.
”The coach said his players dominated Rangers from start to finish but needed to improve their finishing in front of goal.
“In Nigeria and Africa generally, finishing is a challenge. Even the Super Eagles suffer from it. But football is not only about strikers.
“Goals can come from defenders and midfielders if the team is tactically organised,” he said.
He explained that Barau’s two goals came from midfielders because the attackers followed instructions to unsettle the Rangers defence and create openings for others.
“When the boys follow instructions, half of the coach’s job is done. Their discipline today made the difference,” he said.
Bosso said the next target was to build momentum ahead of their away fixture against Remo Stars.
“We are out of the relegation area now, but we must sustain it. Our next match is against Remo Stars, a team I know very well because I have worked in that environment before.
“We will approach it with confidence,” he said.
The coach also commended supporters for their encouragement, saying the team had missed the energy of their home fans in previous fixtures. Barau scored in the 72nd and 25th minutes through Joseph Kemin and Muhammad Umar to secure the win.
With the victory Barau now have 13 points from 12 matches and occupy 16 position in the league standing.
