The Federal Government has assured that the South-East region remains central to the vision and agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, pledging that the zone will not be marginalised in any form.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, gave the assurance on Thursday in Enugu during a Citizens’ Engagement with the people of the state. He said the Tinubu administration’s reforms, strategic policies, and inclusive leadership style are designed to benefit all regions equally.

“Nigeria will never go back to that era where the South-East or certain parts of the country are treated marginally,” Idris declared.

According to him, President Tinubu has taken deliberate steps to address historical feelings of marginalisation by creating new development commissions for previously uncovered zones, ensuring that no region is left behind. He added that the President’s commitment to equity is reflected in balanced political appointments and the fair distribution of federal projects.

“By the end of Tinubu’s first term, the benefits of his reforms will be clearer. The federal government remains committed to transparency, accountability, and delivering the dividends of democracy to all Nigerians. With Tinubu, Nigeria is marching towards prosperity,” Idris said.

He also noted that the administration has rolled out a range of empowerment and humanitarian programmes aimed at cushioning the impact of fuel subsidy removal and other tough but necessary policies.

The engagement in Enugu was part of a three-day tour of projects in Enugu and Ebonyi states by a federal government delegation, aimed at interacting directly with citizens and showcasing ongoing federal initiatives in the South-East. The event attracted stakeholders from across the state.
