The Nigeria Catchball Federation (NCF) yesterday advanced grassroots sports and female empowerment by introducing Catchball to young girls in Mushin, Lagos State.
The event took place at the Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) Centre in Mushin.
The programme, which drew notable personalities, was coordinated by Kaosara Valentine with support from Tolani Ogundimu of the Ministry of Women Affairs under WAPA.
Itohan Imoisili and the NCF President and CEO, Mr Bola Babarinde, represented the Federation at the event.
Babarinde, addressing the young audience, highlighted the numerous benefits of Catchball for girls and its wider positive impact on society.
He said the sport could influence families, strengthen communities, and contribute to national growth while offering international exposure.
“We believe Catchball will empower young girls to stay active, dream big, and make meaningful contributions to their communities,” Babarinde stated.
The participating girls showed great enthusiasm, while the NCF confirmed that structured training sessions would begin shortly.
