…Let Tinubu Finish What He Started, Says Akume

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration is fully committed to equitable development across all regions of the country, declaring that “no area will be left behind.”
The President made the assurance on Monday at a two-day interactive session on Government-Citizens Engagement in Kaduna, organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, where issues of governance, development, and electoral promises were discussed.
Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, President Tinubu outlined his administration’s major interventions across economic reforms, infrastructure, education, health, security, and agriculture, reaffirming that his “Renewed Hope Agenda” is designed to deliver real dividends of democracy to every part of Nigeria.
“In our pursuit of a better Nigeria, no region will be left behind. Every citizen, regardless of location, will feel the impact of good governance,” Tinubu said.
He emphasized that the bold reforms undertaken by his administration, such as fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate unification, though initially painful, have laid a solid foundation for long-term economic stability and inclusive growth.
The President listed several ongoing projects across the northern region, including the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, the Kano-Katsina-Maradi rail line, the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway, rehabilitation of the Kaduna Refinery, and agricultural value chain initiatives.
“These are not mere promises; they are tangible projects already transforming lives and livelihoods,” Tinubu said.
Speaking at the event, SGF Akume urged Northern politicians to shelve their 2027 presidential ambitions and support President Tinubu’s bid for a second term, noting that it was in the interest of regional and national stability.
“President Tinubu has spent just two years and two months in office, yet his achievements are fundamental and remarkable,” Akume said. “It is only fair that we allow him to complete his mandate till 2031 before considering other aspirations.”
He dismissed narratives suggesting the North was being sidelined, citing key appointments, infrastructural developments, and policy interventions that have significantly impacted the region.
Akume added, “The President has positively touched every part of this country. From security to infrastructure, agriculture to education, his vision of a united and prosperous Nigeria is being implemented without bias.”
The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, also endorsed the President’s leadership, saying Tinubu has kept his electoral promises to the North.
“In 2027, we must reward performance. By that measure, President Tinubu has earned our continued support,” Yahaya said. “His Renewed Hope Agenda is not just a slogan; it is being felt through infrastructure, security improvements, and economic policies that are addressing our peculiar challenges.”
Yahaya highlighted the rehabilitation of the Kaduna Refinery, ongoing oil exploration in Kolmani fields, inter-state road networks, and efforts to modernize livestock management as direct benefits to the North from the Tinubu administration.
On security, Yahaya noted that over 300 terrorist commanders have been neutralized, reducing the grip of criminal networks across Northern communities. He also applauded the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development and intervention programs targeting youth empowerment and education.
Observers at the event described the interaction as a tacit endorsement of Tinubu’s leadership and a signal that key Northern stakeholders are prepared to stand with him through 2027.
They also commended the President’s assurance of inclusive development, stating that sustained engagement between the government and citizens is crucial for strengthening democracy.
Akume led a high-powered Federal Government delegation to the event, including ministers, heads of agencies, service chiefs, and political aides, underscoring the administration’s seriousness about national unity and development.
In his closing remarks, Tinubu paid glowing tribute to late Premier Sir Ahmadu Bello, and other visionary Northern leaders, urging current leaders to emulate their patriotism and commitment to Nigeria’s unity and progress.
