Jobberman Nigeria in collaboration with MasterCard Foundation has empowered no fewer than 900 youth and women with career opportunities in Adamawa.
The Country Head of Programme Jobberman, Mr Adeyeye Olamide, while speaking at the career clinic in Yola, on Saturday, charged the participants to open up more opportunities around the world.
Olamide said the clinic with the theme: “your career compass, gain clarity in work and business” was aimed at guiding the young people to a better future.
“What we are doing here in Adamawa is part of a larger commitment to equip young Nigerians with what they need to succeed, right where they are.
“Through our partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, we are reshaping how young people access opportunities in jobs, in businesses and mindset,” Olamide said.
He explained that at the end of the clinic, the participants were expected to access global opportunities for them to succeed in life.
Juliana Omale, one of the facilitators, said a lot of graduates have little practical skills for entrepreneurship or employment opportunities.
She called on them to first of all, understand what they were good at, where they were and where they were heading to.
According to her, the reason for focusing on the young people is to encourage them to access the opportunity for them to succeed in the future.
Fatima Ibrahim, a participant, appreciated the opportunity given her to attend the session.
“Before today, I didn’t have a direction and I wasn’t sure if I should keep applying for jobs or start my own small business. But now the Career Clinic has made me to have a direction to follow for a better life,” she said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the beneficiaries were between the ages of 18 to 35 including persons leaving with disabilities.
