A former Governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to conduct a post-humous swearing-in Chief MKO Abiola as Nigeria’s democratically elected President.

Kalu, who is currently a serving Senator in the National Assembly, made the call on Tuesday while speaking with newsmen in Abuja.

He also urged the Federal Government to have Abiola’s picture placed where other former presidents are, as well as grant his (Abiola) family other rights enjoyed by families of former presidents,” he insisted.

Kalu, who was reacting to last week’s confirmation by former Military President, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida that Chief MKO Abiola won the June 12, 1993 Presidential election, said doing these will assuage the family of the pains of their matriarch’s death.

The outspoken lawmaker also advised Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida to quickly publish the reviewed edition of his recently published autobiography, “A Journey in Service”, since the first edition failed to address or answer many questions surrounding him (Babangida).

“I’m waiting for the second editions of that book, because the first edition did not bring out all the realities of what happened, especially when it concerns Professor Humphrey, who was called names.

“Not only Abacha was called by names. Those who stopped him. I was there, so I know what happened.

“IBB should call their names and write the second edition. So that Nigerians will know the role each of them played. Because people are thinking maybe Babangida lied here and there.

“But I’m very grateful that the coup, they call Igbo coup, Babangida, has cleared the air. I don’t need Babangida to tell me that the coup was not an Igbo’s coup. That’s why I’m a Nigerian,” he said.
