The Ogun State Government has commenced the refund of 33 unsuccessful subscribers to its housing units across the state.
The state Commissioner for Housing, Mr Jamiu Omoniyi, disclosed this in Abeokuta at Tuesday’s news conference on the breakdown and highlights of the 2025 approved budget.
The commissioner said the state government, under the leadership of Gov. Dapo Abiodun, would continue to be responsible, responsive and accountable for its actions.
“I can boldly say that all the 33 unsuccessful subscribers to all our schemes have been collated with their refund amounting to N92.6 million.
“It has already been approved, and the cheques are ready for collection at the Ministry of Housing,” he said.
The commissioner explained that the ministry further planned to deliver 5,000 housing units and embark on legacy projects.
While giving the budget breakdown, he said a total of N17 billion would be expended on the 5,000 planned housing units.
“Part of the project includes the construction of quarters for judges among others,” he said.
Earlier, the Economic Adviser and Commissioner for Finance, Mr Dapo Okubadejo, said Ogun had positioned itself to take full advantage of the expansion of Lagos to grow its economy.
Okubadejo, who chaired the news conference, said the budget of the state grew from N330 billion in 2020 to N1.045 trillion in 2025.
According to him, the geometrical growth in five years indicates the state is one of the best concerning the ease of doing business and facilitating direct foreign investments.
The finance commissioner said Ogun had also developed a robust economic ambition to create jobs, provide food and reduce insecurity.
