An agro-allied group, Oriyon International Ltd., has perfected plans for a nationwide training for empowerment of 259,000 youths and women in livestock with pilot scheme in Kwara state.
The Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Oriyon International Ltd., Ms Amina Momoh-Orimoloye, confirmed this in an interview yesterday in Lagos.
NAN reports that the group will champion the training through its Economic Empowerment for Women and Youth in Livestock Agriculture (EEWYLA) initiative.
EEWYLA initiative, created and led by Oriyon International Ltd. and powered by its blockchain platform RumerNG, is a nationally endorsed programme backed by the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development and the African Development Bank (AfDB).
Momoh-Orimoloye said the pilot scheme would be in partnership with the Kwara State Government.
She said the training would commence in July 2025.
“EEWYLA initiative will commence in July, 2025, marking a significant step forward in transforming the state into a livestock innovation and agribusiness hub.
“At national scale, the programme will train and establish over 259,000 women and youths livestock entrepreneurs and officially registered and recognised agribusinesses.
“It will also be supported by 174,960 technical personnel including veterinarians, agronomists, extension officers, and other critical roles across all 36 states of Nigeria.
“The resulting impact will strengthen Nigeria’s livestock value chain, increase traceability and compliance, and open doors to high-value export markets.
“The camp will host intensive livestock agribusiness training programmes designed to equip youths across Kwara State and corps members with the needed tools to become livestock entrepreneurs,” Momoh-Orimoloye said.
She added that the training would be launched in Kano and the Federal Capital Territory later in the year.
“We welcome the Kwara State Government’s announcement of the livestock agribusiness programme – EEWYLA initiative being implemented in Kwara at the NYSC site.
“The NYSC camp will serve as a youth-dedicated site within our wider EEWYLA pilot. It’s an exciting convergence of state commitment and our private-sector-led national initiative.
“EEWYLA is more than a training programme, it is a structured, end-to-end ecosystem that empowers beneficiaries to become registered livestock entrepreneurs with access to inputs, veterinary support, business incubation, and traceable market access via RumerNG.
“The upcoming Kwara pilot scheme is a cornerstone of a broader national vision to modernize the livestock industry, enhance youth and women participation, and elevate Nigeria’s global standing in animal agriculture.
“Through strong public-private partnerships and an innovation-first approach, the EEWYLA programme is poised to deliver measurable outcomes in agribusiness development, food security, and rural prosperity,” she said.
According to her, preparations are underway for subsequent launches in Kano and the FCT, while the Yikpata NYSC Camp is preparing to receive the first cohort of beneficiaries this July.
