Lottery billionaire Sir Kessington Adebutu has turned his famous winning numbers into another kind of jackpot — this time for Lagos security. The story behind the KTH Daily Soft Sell on Baba Ijebu reveals even more about his influence.
The Premier Lotto founder, popularly associated with the “Baba Ijebu” brand, single-handedly funded a new multi-storey headquarters for the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), ending nearly two decades of operations from rented offices.
The building, valued at more than ₦800 million when construction began, was delivered alongside five patrol vehicles for security operations.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commissioned the facility in Ikeja’s Central Business District, describing Adebutu’s intervention as “a remarkable gesture.” The building has been named the Sir Kessington Adebutu Security Trust Fund Building.
Adebutu, who turned 91 shortly after the commissioning, described his contribution not simply as philanthropy but as “a sacred obligation of gratitude to our Almighty Creator.”
It adds another chapter to the businessman’s growing philanthropic footprint.
Adebutu rose from salesman to become one of Nigeria’s best-known lottery entrepreneurs, building Premier Lotto into a household name before expanding his investments into banking, construction, and manufacturing.
His philanthropy has included major investments in healthcare, education, youth development, and communities in Ogun State.
For Lagos, however, the latest gift has a particularly fitting symbolism: Baba Ijebu is betting big on security — and Lagos is holding the winning ticket.
