African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has added a colourful twist to the 2027 campaign season—he wants to inaugurate his campaign council at Aso Rock.
Sowore says if the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) can use facilities at the Presidential Villa for political activities, opposition parties deserve the same privilege.
Speaking on Arise Television on Thursday, Sowore defended the AAC’s request to hold its Presidential Campaign Council inauguration at the Villa on November 11.
“If the APC can use the Presidential Villa for its political activities with catering, logistics, and security provided, we are entitled to the same,” he said.
Sowore accused the APC of treating the seat of power like an extension of its party office, alleging that the Villa had hosted political meetings, launches, and even weddings.
He also threw down a challenge: if the APC produces receipts showing it paid for previous engagements at the Villa, the AAC would pay too.
The controversy followed the AAC’s request to President Bola Tinubu for permission to stage the November 11 event at Aso Rock.
For Sowore, the argument is simple: if the Villa is public property, the opposition should also be able to knock on its doors.
