Popular Nigerian streamer Peller has sparked reactions after advising Yoruba and Igbo people to consider marrying outside their ethnic groups, arguing that intertribal marriages offer a different relationship experience.

In a viral statement, the entertainer warned Yoruba people against marrying fellow Yoruba partners and made a similar claim about Igbo people.

“If you are a Yoruba and want to marry a Yoruba in 2026, bro, your life is finished. And if you are Igbo, you want to marry Igbo, your life is finished,” he said.

Explaining his position, Peller argued that people from the same ethnic group often share similar cultural knowledge and ways of thinking, making relationships with people from other backgrounds more interesting.

He also revealed his preference for marrying a Benin woman, insisting that he would not choose a Yoruba partner, despite being Yoruba himself.

Using his parents’ marriage as an example, the streamer noted that both are Yoruba before jokingly suggesting that his life experience had influenced his opinion.

Peller urged young people to take his advice seriously, despite his age, describing it as a lesson drawn from his observations.
