Controversial social media activist VeryDarkMan has taken a swipe at Pastor Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin over teachings about remembering dreams, questioning the preacher’s spiritual calling and criticising what he described as the failure of influential pastors to address Nigeria’s pressing problems.
In a viral video, VeryDarkMan mocked advice attributed to the pastor, which reportedly urged members to avoid certain foods and sleeping conditions to improve their ability to remember their dreams.
The recommendations reportedly included avoiding late night meals, malt drinks, Guinness, tea with milk or Bournvita, limiting the use of air conditioners and fans, reducing phone usage in the early hours and refraining from speaking immediately after waking up.
Reacting to the teachings, the activist questioned the preacher’s claim of being called by God, sarcastically saying, “Papa, what are the fruits of the Spirit? He will tell you beans, bole and epa.”
VeryDarkMan also broadened his criticism to other Nigerian pastors, accusing some religious leaders of misleading their followers and using their positions to enrich themselves rather than confront issues affecting the country.
He questioned why prominent pastors with large congregations and political connections had not done more to address insecurity and killings in parts of Nigeria, particularly in Benue State.
The activist argued that religious leaders with significant influence should use their platforms to push for practical solutions to the challenges facing their communities instead of relying solely on prayers.
He further criticised what he described as the contrast between the comfortable lifestyles and heavy security enjoyed by some influential pastors and the vulnerability of ordinary Nigerians facing threats from bandits and other armed groups.
VeryDarkMan maintained that his intention was to encourage young Nigerians to scrutinise religious teachings and question their leaders rather than accept every message without examination.
