Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has opened up about his recent financial struggles, insisting that his fans should not mistake his reduced spending for stinginess.
Speaking to his fans, the singer explained that he had been experiencing financial difficulties and said his spending would increase now that he had started making money again.
“My fans don’t think I am stingy. I have been broke. Once I get money, everybody would know,” Portable said.
The singer also revealed that he had been booked and paid to perform at an APC state rally in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“I have been booked to do APC state rally for Tinubu. I have collected money already,” he said.
Portable explained that his inability to spend money freely in recent times was not because he was unwilling to support people around him, but because he did not have enough money.
“If you see that I have not been spending money for the streets, it’s not that I am stingy with money, it’s just that I didn’t have money,” he said.
He added that his financial situation had recently improved, allowing him to spend more freely.
“But now, I have made some money and I can now spend it. May we see money to eat. I am just a singer,” Portable added.
