Veteran actor Hanks Anuku has expressed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging Nigerians to be patient with his administration as it works to address the country’s challenges.
Anuku made the remarks during an interview with The Honest Bunch Podcast, where he spoke about Nigeria’s political situation and his personal position on the current administration.
The actor argued that the country’s problems did not begin under Tinubu and said the president should be given time to address the challenges he inherited.
“I stick with Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Nigeria has to be patient. The country was not spoilt by him. There were people there before him na. Why didn’t they go after those people? He has to fix it now,” Anuku said.
He described Tinubu as “doing great” and called on Nigerians to exercise patience, arguing that the country was too eager to see immediate results.
“Nigerians should be patient. We’re too much in a hurry. That’s why we are where we are,” he said.
Anuku also defended his decision to associate with the president despite possible criticism, saying he planned to spend time with Tinubu.
“I’m going to be hanging out with Mr. President. There’s nothing you can do about that,” he said.
Responding to suggestions that his support could be financially motivated, the actor dismissed the idea that he had been paid to support the president.
He also questioned whether future leaders would necessarily perform better than Tinubu, saying Nigerians could end up with leaders who perform worse.
“Most people who are going to come, maybe after, maybe they’re even worse off. So the devil you know is better,” Anuku said.
