Mary Remmy Njoku Speaks on Men Who Feel Insecure When Their Wives Earn More

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mary Remmy Njoku has weighed in on the growing conversation around women earning more than their partners, arguing that a woman’s financial success should not become a source of insecurity or competition in a relationship.

In a social media post, Njoku noted that many women genuinely celebrate their partners’ success and often pray for them to prosper. However, she said some men struggle emotionally when their partners begin earning significantly more than they do.

According to her, the insecurity can sometimes manifest during disagreements, with some men attributing conflicts to the financial difference between them and their partners.

“Suddenly, every little disagreement becomes, ‘It’s because you have more money than me,’” she said.

Njoku argued that in such situations, the perceived disrespect may not necessarily be coming from the woman but from the man’s own insecurity about what her success represents.

She stressed that a woman becoming more financially successful should not make her partner feel diminished, adding that genuine love should allow couples to celebrate each other’s achievements without turning their finances into a competition.
