Delta Govt., IMPACT Project Begin Assessment Tour of PHCs

The Deltastste government said it has commenced the assessment of Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in the state to evaluate the quality-of-service delivery.
The exercise, which started on Monday is organised by the Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency.
It is held in partnership with the Immunisation Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) Project in the 25 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
The IMPACT Project is an initiative of the Federal Government, implemented through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency.
The project is aimed at strengthening services in PHCs, particularly maternal and child healthcare, immunisation, malaria control among others.
Speaking, Mrs Angele Ossai, the Officer-in-Charge and Director, Nursing Services at Umuagu, PHC, commended the government and IMPACT Project for their commitment to improving healthcare delivery across the state.
She lauded the improved infrastructure, modern medical equipment and increased free maternal healthcare services.
Ossai said the facility had recorded significant improvements since the commencement of project, including the construction of a new laboratory, provision of staff quarters, and renovation and repainting of the PHC.
Also speaking, the Officer-in-Charge of Okpanam PHC, Mrs Yemi Okaka, described the IMPACT Project as a major boost to the facility.
“The intervention has led to extensive renovation works, the provision of operational funds, volunteer health workers, essential drugs and delivery kits,’’ she said.
According to her, the project has improved the quality and efficiency of healthcare services at the facility.
Similarly, the Officer-in-Charge of the Model PHC, Asaba, Mrs Isioma Eboigbe, lauded the government and the IMPACT Project for strengthening the state’s healthcare system.
She disclosed that the introduction of free maternal and delivery services had resulted in 70 per cent increase in facility-based deliveries, as more women now sought skilled care during childbirth.
