Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has denied ever publicly supporting Peter Obi or any other politician or political party.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Tuesday, Falz said he had only encouraged Nigerians, particularly young people, to participate in elections and vote.
“Just a point of correction. I never openly supported Peter Obi or any politician or party in 2023 or at any point,” he said.
The rapper explained that his focus has always been on advocating for a free and fair democratic process rather than backing any individual politician.
“I clamour for a free and fair democratic process. I haven’t stuck out my neck for any politician for obvious reasons,” he added.
Falz also expressed concern about the state of Nigeria’s democracy, arguing that the country appears to be trapped in a cycle of repeatedly reshuffling the same set of political figures.
He urged Nigerians to become more involved in the electoral process ahead of the next general elections.
