Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy has made history by becoming the first African artiste to reach number one on the Billboard Global 200 Songs chart.

The Grammy-winning singer achieved the milestone with his FIFA World Cup collaboration with Colombian music icon Shakira, titled *Dai Dai*, which climbed to the top of the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global 200 Excluding U.S. charts this week.

The song also continued its impressive run in the United States, rising 12 places to a new peak of No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The achievement marks another major milestone in Burna Boy’s career, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s most influential global music exports.

Meanwhile, fellow Nigerian star Tems also recorded a significant chart milestone. Her hit single *What You Need* climbed five spots to reach a new peak of No. 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 after spending 15 weeks on the chart.

The song recently reached No. 1 on both the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and the Mediabase Urban Radio Airplay chart, highlighting its growing success in the American music market.

The latest Billboard achievements by Burna Boy and Tems underscore the continued global rise of Nigerian music, as Afrobeats artists increasingly dominate some of the world’s biggest music charts and expand the genre’s international influence.
