Content creator Layi Wasabi has opened up about how personal growth, success, and changing life experiences altered the way he connects with music, using Wizkid’s evolution as a case study.

Speaking during an interview with Joey Akan, Layi said he began to appreciate Wizkid’s newer sound only after his own life improved and he started to experience a more comfortable lifestyle.

“I started to enjoy the new Wizkid when life started to get better for me,” he said.

According to him, success broadens a person’s experiences and, in turn, reshapes their taste, creativity, and perspective. He argued that artists also evolve in the same way, noting that Wizkid’s sound naturally changed as his fame, audience, and lifestyle expanded.

Layi explained that while he was a fan of Wizkid from the beginning, there was a point when the singer’s music became softer and less rooted in struggle, making it harder for him to connect with at the time.

“I was a Wizkid fan from the beginning, then his music went soft and cool. I couldn’t hear the struggle again, and I needed to hear the struggle,” he said.

He added that once his own circumstances changed, he was able to better understand and enjoy the mood, comfort, and luxury that shaped Wizkid’s newer sound.
