Nigerian comedians and content creators Broda Mike and Mario Wazobia have called for the arrest of a social media personality known as Veryblackman, an associate of activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), over alleged threats made against comedian DeeOne.
The calls followed a viral video in which Veryblackman allegedly threatened to physically attack DeeOne over their ongoing online disagreements.
In the video, which has circulated widely on social media, Veryblackman was heard making remarks suggesting he was prepared to confront the comedian if they crossed paths.
“Any day I see DeeOne, I’m not joking. Either I beat him and sleep in the police station or something else happens. One of the two must happen,” he said in part.
The video has since generated concern among social media users, with several public figures describing the comments as a threat to life.
Reacting in a video posted on Instagram, Mario Wazobia urged DeeOne not to take the remarks lightly, warning that public threats should be treated seriously.
“You and DeeOne don’t have any personal issues. He came online and openly threatened your life. DeeOne should not ignore this,” Wazobia said.
Broda Mike also weighed in on the controversy, calling on DeeOne to seek legal action and report the matter to security agencies.
According to him, the repeated threats contained in the viral video warrant investigation by the authorities.
“DeeOne, get him arrested. He openly threatened your life and said it publicly. Such statements should not be ignored,” Broda Mike stated.
The development comes amid an ongoing feud between DeeOne and supporters of VeryDarkMan. DeeOne has been a vocal critic of the activist and his Ratel movement, while Veryblackman is widely known as one of VDM’s associates.
As of the time of filing this report, VeryDarkMan and Veryblackman had not publicly responded to the calls for arrest, while DeeOne had yet to announce whether he intends to take legal action.
