Popular Catholic priest, Ejike Mbaka, has reacted strongly to the recent kidnapping of schoolchildren in Oyo State, calling for urgent action from the authorities while suggesting that insecurity may be linked to a wider political agenda.

Speaking on the incident, Mbaka urged Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to take immediate steps to secure the release of the victims and strengthen security measures across the state.

The cleric expressed frustration over the continued abduction of children, warning that no Nigerian should assume they are safe amid the growing insecurity.

He also made controversial claims, alleging that some acts of violence and kidnapping may be politically motivated and aimed at turning public opinion against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Mbaka, similar tactics were allegedly used during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, claiming that insecurity is sometimes exploited to create fear and political unrest.

The priest called on security agencies and state authorities to intensify efforts to locate and rescue the abducted children, stressing that every delay increases public anxiety and fear.

He further condemned those behind the kidnapping, describing the act as evil and warning that violence should never be used as a tool for political gain.

His comments come as concern continues to grow over rising kidnapping cases across parts of Nigeria, with security agencies carrying out investigations and rescue operations.
