Nollywood actor-turned-politician Desmond Elliot has cried out over alleged intimidation and victimisation within his party in Surulere, Lagos.
In a statement directed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Desmond Elliot first appreciated the party leadership for creating what he described as a level playing field that allows candidates to test their popularity within their constituencies.
However, the lawmaker expressed concerns over recent developments within the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Surulere Constituency 1, alleging that several local government workers were being targeted because of their association with him.
“My security personnel have been withdrawn from me by God knows who. A lot of people in the local government are being fired because they follow me. This is intimidation,” he said.
Desmond Elliot further stated that intimidation and political pressure have no place in a democratic system, as supporters of a certain candidate within the party are forcing their way into winning the primaries to be held on Wednesday 20th, May 2026, while calling attention to what he described as unfair treatment against his supporters.
His comments have since sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians debating internal party politics, loyalty and political intimidation within local government structures.
