It’s the kind of plot twist Nollywood would envy.

After months under the investigative glare, popular Streams of Joy cleric, Jerry Eze, has emerged not just cleared, but commended, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Speaking at the Jerry Eze Foundation Business Grant Award Ceremony in Abuja, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede revealed that the commission spent six months digging into allegations of suspicious financial activity linked to the Streams of Joy International founder.

The trigger? Intelligence reports and petitions pointing to hefty foreign currency inflows into the pastor’s domiciliary account, from places as far-flung as Colombia, the United States, Sri Lanka, and Togo. Naturally, that kind of global money trail raised eyebrows and launched a full-scale probe.

According to Olukoyede, the EFCC combed through financial records, followed the money, and eventually invited the pastor in—not for a grilling, but for a conversation.

And here’s where the script flips.

After reviewing everything and engaging directly with Eze, the anti-graft agency found no evidence of wrongdoing. Instead of sanctions, the cleric got a nod of approval for transparency.

From suspect to standout, the moment turned into an unexpected applause scene.

Still, the EFCC boss struck a cautionary note, reminding the audience that not all stories end this way. He pointed out that some religious figures have previously been caught and convicted for financial misconduct, urging faith leaders to keep their houses clean, literally and figuratively.

In this episode, though, it’s curtains down on suspicion and a spotlight on vindication.
