Veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji has once again stepped into the conversation around Nigeria’s political and social climate, this time with a strong take on misinformation.
In an interview with KAA Truth, the respected actor expressed concern over what he described as Nigerians’ growing habit of consuming information without verification. According to him, many people no longer research, but simply run with whatever they see on social media.
He went further to claim that “three quarters” of what circulates online is false. While the exact source of that statistic remains unclear, his message was unmistakable: not everything trending is true.
Sharing a personal experience, Zack Orji recounted a recent visit to the United Kingdom, where he was confronted by Nigerians questioning his support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, especially in light of the country’s current economic challenges.
His response was firm, and perhaps predictable.
“He is my president. Am I not supposed to support him?” he said, adding that reforms take time and that issues like poverty and hunger are not unique to Nigeria, but global concerns that have existed long before the current administration.
His comments have since sparked mixed reactions, with some agreeing on the need for responsible information consumption, while others remain unconvinced by his political stance.
