The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released the timetable for its nationwide congresses ahead of the party’s National Convention.
This was contained in a statement issued by the National Organising Secretary, Prince Chinedu Idigo, and the National Publicity Secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, yesterday in Abuja.
The statement said that the polling unit and ward Congresses would hold on April 7, followed by local government area congresses on April 9 and state congresses on April 11.
It disclosed that the process would culminate in the party’s National Convention scheduled for April 14.
The party advised members interested in contesting vacant positions to obtain and submit the relevant nomination or expression of interest forms through the official ADC website.
“This process forms part of the party’s constitutional responsibility to renew its leadership structures across all levels of the organisation, culminating in the national convention.
“The approved timetable is as follows:
Polling Unit and Ward Congresses, April 7 2026, local government, April 9, State, April 11, and national convention, April 14, 2026.
“Forms and further information are available via the official ADC website, www.adc.org.ng,” the statement said.
It urged members nationwide to participate in the process and conduct themselves in accordance with the constitution, guidelines, and democratic values of the ADC.
Also, a faction of the party, led by Nafi’u Bala, has fixed April 3 to 5 for the election of new members of the national working committee (NWC).
In a statement issued yesterday, the ADC faction said party executives at the ward, LGA, state, and national congresses will be elected through consensus.
In a timetable outlining activities leading up to the national convention, the party said ward congresses will take place on March 19, followed by LGA congresses on March 24, and state congresses on March 28.
The group said the decision was taken to promote unity, inclusivity, and internal cohesion.
“This decision is taken in accordance with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act 2026 (as amended), in furtherance of its commitment to promoting unity, cohesion, and inclusiveness within the party,” the statement read.
