Social media influencer and beauty entrepreneur Laura Ikeji has turned her frustration into a public cry for help, directing her anger at the Lagos State Government over the relentless surge in rent across Lagos Island.

In a video that carried the weight of exhaustion and disbelief, the reality television star lamented how the cost of keeping her business afloat has spiralled beyond reason. A shop she once rented for four million naira now gulps over sixteen million naira for the same space, leaving her to question how survival has quietly become a luxury.

Her words painted the picture of a city that once promised opportunity but now threatens to choke the very dreams it helped nurture. She called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to urgently intervene, warning that Lagos risks losing its entrepreneurs to other states if the burden continues to grow unchecked.

Her outcry reflects a deeper anxiety shared by many business owners who now find themselves trapped between ambition and the rising cost of simply existing in Nigeria’s most glamorous city.
