Seyi Law, whose real name is Oluwaseyitan Lawrence, has been facing intense backlash online since Monday, 23 February 2026, following his appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast by Glitch Africa.

Several clips from the four-hour and seven-minute episode circulated widely across social media, highlighting his opinions on national security, politics, and electoral processes.

In some of the clips, Seyi Law claimed that Nigeria is safer now than it was ten years ago. He also stated that more bandits have been killed under the administration of Bola Tinubu than during the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan.

During a heated exchange with social activist Zekeri Idris, the comedian warned Nigerians to be cautious about demanding full electronic transmission of election results. He argued that real-time transmission may not be feasible with the current paper-based voting system. This statement triggered strong reactions, especially as electoral reform remains a sensitive national issue.

Controversy deepened when Seyi Law claimed that he and comedy veteran Alibaba hosted a fundraising event for Alex Otti when he contested for governor under the All Progressives Congress. Zekeri Idris immediately challenged the claim, pointing out that Alex Otti did not contest under the APC.

Podcast host Daddy Freeze quickly verified the information and confirmed that Alex Otti contested the 2015 governorship election in Abia State under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), not APC.

Public reactions have remained mixed, with many Nigerians criticising Seyi Law’s statements while others continue to debate the issues raised during the podcast.
